Kerri Chandler revisits, re-writes and adds a modern production twist to the classic 1990 track ‘My My Lover’ by Dee Dee Brave with OPOLOPO and Dennis Quin on remix duties.
With nearly thirty years of experience, it is safe to say that Kerri Chandler is one of the most influential producers on the deep house scene. From a young age, Chandler was exposed a variety of music as he grew up in a family of jazz musicians as well as his father being a well-respected DJ that he would accompany to gigs. This provided him with a rich background in the origins of soul, disco and garage which eventually led he to release his first single in 1991 and launch his first record label ‘Madhouse Records’ in 1992.
Kicking off the package we have Kerri’s 2018 rework of ‘My My Lover’ which utilises the natural and instinctive 4/4 beat Chandler is known for alongside crisp pianos and Dee Dee Brave’s breath-taking vocals that create a soulful piece. Next on the remix is Hungarian producer OPOLOPO with his Nu-Disco take which employs the use of a swinging rhythm and sharp, underpinning guitar licks that generate a fast moving and funky cut.
One of the driving forces for the contemporary Madhouse Records sound Dennis Quin is up next, following releases on labels like Snatch! Madhouse and Simma Black to name a few, Quin presents bristling synths alongside heady subs that rumble throughout the track before both Kerri and OPOLOPO’s instrumental mixes round off the package.
